The actual air flow to the burner must be measured if an accurate fuel/air ratio is to be maintained. This is generally done for large furnaces. Smaller packaged units have the fuel and the air linked with cams and no air measurement is done. It may be required to use a venturi to achieve both high accuracy and low head loss.
