Process Containment Equipment to be lined/coated shall have sufficient size openings to permit air movement to keep solvent vapor to air ratio below lower explosive limits. Consideration shall be given to the number, size and location of manways used for the provision of air circulation equipment of lined items. These openings shall provide clear access for the ventilation, blastig hoses, air hoses, etc. They shall also provide clear access for the personnel to access / egress the vessel safely during prepartion of the vessel internal surface and application of the liner in case of an emergency situation. The following are minimum guidelines for the size and location of nozzles.

- API tank (< 6m dia) : 1 manway in the shell at grade and one 12" nozzle in the center of the roof
- API tak (>6m dia) : 2 manways in the shell at grade 180 degrees apart and one 24" nozzle in the center of the roof
- Horizontal vessel without an internal baffle : 1 manway in one head and one 12" nozzle in the center of the other head
- Horizontal vessel with an internal baffle : Same as above. The baffle shall have a removable section to be removed for ventilation.
- Vertical vessel : 1 manway in the shell a max 610mm from the bottom TL and one 12" nozzle in the center of the roof

1.1 Size of Manhole
  6m smaller vessels, at least one manhole or one hand hole shall be provided. in this case, an air vent nozzle of 6" shall be installed at the extreme opposite of the manhole/hanhole.

1.2 Vent, drain size
